Research shows that simply writing about an emotional state helps to bring trauma out of the body by getting it on the page.
Writing-to-heal can help rewire old, trauma-based neural pathways.
By putting pencil to paper, you’re able to operate in the past, present, and future all at once. You engage in the present moment, even as your brain chooses words that call up events from the past.
You create new meaning out of your experiences, which benefits you long into the future.
As you make your way through the program you’ll discover how the past shows up in the present based on your unique story. Each exercise in this guided journey is designed to help you dive deeper, to uncover a new layer of understanding.
Through these exercises and reflections, you’ll gain a clearer picture of why you react the way you do in stressful moments, and how to rewrite the way you respond toward yourself and others in powerful and lasting ways.
Once you gain an understanding of your patterns, and the links between your past and present, you’ll learn new techniques to help you set aside old thought patterns and reframe your beliefs about yourself, so that you’re able to move forward seeing yourself, and your life, in a new light.
The details
The entire program contains 6 modules which are delivered to you over the course of 3 days (at the pace of 2 modules per day). We finish each day with a soothing meditation.
The purpose of doing this work in stages is so that you won’t feel overwhelmed, and can do each day’s work in bite-sized bits.
Most people will need to set aside 45 minutes to 1 hour each day to complete the coursework and the meditation.
